To Vegan or Not to Vegan? - Cocoon Mode de Vie

To Vegan or Not to Vegan?

Increasingly, this debate is being played out at the forefront of discussions around both personal wellness and the health of the planet.

It’s impossible to ignore that cutting animal products out of your diet has significant effects to both you and the environment.

To begin with, prioritising natural, nutrient-dense plant-based foods can reduce the risk of cardiovascular and heart disease. The reduction in processed foods helps to also reduce blood sugar levels and the chances of type 2 diabetes.

Aside from the health benefits, choosing a plant-based lifestyle encourages a more mindful approach to what you put into your body and can, as a result, lead to weight loss.

More practically plant-based ingredients tend to cost less than meats and fish and the negative impact on the environment is drastically less too.

However, there are undeniable downsides.

Without careful planning and consideration, it can be easy to lose out on vital nutrients like protein, vitamin B, omega, zinc and iron.

It can also have a big impact on your lifestyle – it takes real diligence and commitment to seek out ingredients and plan ahead consistently. Going vegan can reduce the amount of restaurants you’re able to eat in and makes it more difficult to have friends cook for you.

While these could be considered ‘superficial’ reasons, they can negatively affect your wellbeing and aren’t to be taken lightly. Overall, choosing a vegan diet may not be for everyone, but the benefits do seem to outweigh the disadvantages.

Cocoon Mode de Vie helps members to find their perfect nutritional balance whether you choose to go plant-based or not.
